Baylee Littrell says making friends on American Idol was hard due to 'assumptions'

Brian Littrell's son Baylee confessed it was hard to make friends on American Idol at first - but he then became close to a fellow contestant.

Baylee Littrell has said making friends on American Idol was "hard" because people had "assumptions" about him. The 22-year-old, who is the son of Backstreet Boys singer Brian Littrell , said he knew he would face added pressure on the singing show due to his famous family . And after being eliminated , he confessed he felt like an outsider among contestants at first, but later former friendships.

"And that's one of the emotional parts of leaving is finally people get to see who you are. And finally we kind of set our differences aside or our assumptions of each other and all just started to bond.



" Despite the initial challenges, the young singer said he had "a great experience" on Idol, as he explained, "When I left I was like, 'Man, I'm just now starting to know everybody and it's so great,' but it was tough at first. I was kind of alone. I didn't have any friends.

" Baylee eventually became close to Olivier Bergeron, who was also eliminated in the April 21 episode. He said Olivier is "pretty much my best friend now" while vowing to stay "buddies for life." After being eliminated, Baylee issued a statement to his fans, writing on Instagram, “My American Idol journey has come to an end.

Thank you so much to all who supported me this season. I love you all." His famous father and his fellow Backstreet Boys member showed their support of him in the comments section of the post.

Taking to X one user was so upset they threatened to never watch the show again, writing, "With Baylee no longer on the show, my time watching @AmericanIdol has come to an end." Another person added, "Guess that's it for me watching idol since my favorite didn't get it #AmericanIdol," referring to Baylee. A third user chimed in, "Bummed @littrell_baylee and #OlivierBergeron didn’t make the Top 14 on @AmericanIdol, but I know they both have long careers ahead!" Meanwhile, one called out Backstreet Boys fans who voted for Baylee, fuming, "If you voted for Baylee just bc you're a BSB fan then that's called bias voting.
