Read More The Board of Control for Cricket in India have announced the annual retainership for the 2025-26 season on Monday. The system aims to ensure that the players are rewarded for their contributions and also ensure that the players remain financially stable. Let us take a look at each grade, how much they earn, and who the players are in the respective categories.

Grade A + The Grade A+ contract category is the highest in the BCCI’s annual retainers, and players that are included here earn a total of Rs 7 crore annually. This section remains unchanged from the previous year as the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Jasprit Bumrah are the big names in this category. The most experienced players or the players who have the most important roles in the side across all formats are usually put in this category.

Grade A Players who have a Grade A central contract earn the second-highest with a total of Rs 5 crore per annum. This category also remains unaffected from last year as Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami and Rishabh Pant come in this section. Grade B Those who have a Grade B central contract earn a total of Rs 3 crore annually.

The big change is that of Shreyas Iyer who makes his way back in the annual retainership after being snubbed from it last year. He had a tremendous performance at the Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, which certainly pushed his name up the ranks. Along with Iyer, the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal are also present.

Grade C The Grade C contracted players earn Rs 1 crore per annum. The big inclusions are those of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel Abhishek Sharma, Akash Deep, and Harshit Rana, who earn their first central contract, while Ishan Kishan and Varun Chakaravarthy make their return after their exclusion from last year. The likes of Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, Rajat Patidar keep their spots in this category, while those omitted from this category include Shardul Thakur, KS Bharat, Avesh Khan and Jitesh Sharma.
