Bell: Mark Carney Liberal sleaze and Premier Doug Ford's big mouth

Carney Liberals once again want to link Pierre Poilievre to Donald Trump, this time with dirty tricks of their own

We pull back the curtain and what is in full view is by no means like the grand prize a lucky contestant can win on a game show. It is a game. It is a show.

But there is no prize. It is just outright ugly. First, let’s look at the buttons.

In Ottawa, conservative-minded activists attend a gathering. At this gathering, buttons surface, planted at the event. They look like Trump-style buttons and they are meant to be seen as buttons cooked up by and distributed by conservatives.

But they weren’t conservative buttons. They were Liberal buttons. They were intended to get Canadians to see how conservative types are on board with U.

S. President Donald Trump, as their dear Liberal Leader Mark Carney has told all of us again and again and again and ..

. Over drinks in a pub, Liberal staffers brag about the dirty tricks operation and confirm the Liberal party is behind it. This is the Liberal party who would never stoop to such tactics.

Just ask them. Of course, as reported, the nastiness was orchestrated by the Carney Liberal war room. No shocker for anyone paying attention.

Carney and his crew have run an election campaign elevating cynicism to an art form. Bad art. His campaign is all about Trump and how only he, Mark Carney, can save us.

Trump is going to break Canada so he can own Canada. Trump wants to annex Canada and make it part of the United States. All the 51st state jazz that is not happening.

RelatedSpread of fake campaign pins 'disgusting,' says senior ToryBell: Does Canada wake from the psychodrama or is Poilievre sunk? In Carney’s script, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre worships at the altar of Trump and will kneel before him. Carney is most comfortable and does less stumbling when he is talking about Trump and casting himself as the one to fight Trump and talking not so much on what he would do to clean up the mess left by the Liberals. To go that route, Carney would first have to admit there is a Liberal mess.

A few times Carney says what he thinks you want to hear until you ask for details and get a word salad you wouldn’t feed to a pet hamster. No commitments. Ready to green-light a pipeline? I asked Carney that question in Calgary and got all talk and no walk.

In case some readers are just dialing in to this theatre of the absurd, the Liberal campaign is about getting you to forget the last 10 years under ...

say his name ...

Justin Trudeau. The Liberal Road Show is also about getting you to know as little as possible about the unknown Carney, the international man of mystery. Most of all, the Carney Liberal campaign is about painting Poilievre as a Trump buddy, a sellout.

So, it follows there would be phoney baloney Liberal-made buttons to prove the point. It’s quite a list of buttons. There’s the Stop the Steal button.

Just like Trump’s people saying the election U.S. President Donald Trump lost was stolen by the Democrats.

There’s a Make Canada Great Again button. There’s a Lock Justin Up button, complete with jail cell bars. There’s a Free Alberta button with handcuffs.

Obvious. Conservatives are not just Trump disciples. They are Alberta separatists.

There is a Danielle Smith for CPC leader 2026 button. The reference to Smith as a possible Conservative Party of Canada leader is a fit for the Carney Liberals. If anyone is despised by the Liberal zealots as much as Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre it’s Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.

She talked to Trump. She spoke with Trump officials and Republican politicians. Some Carney Liberal supporters have said the premier is guilty of treason.

There is also a button with the name of Poilievre campaign bigwig Jenni Byrne crossed out. Byrne’s name is replaced with the name of Kory Teneycke, the brains behind Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s mouth and the guy who publicly trashed the Conservative campaign. The Liberals insist they didn’t do all the buttons, just some of them.

Who did the others, Santa’s elves? The Carney crowd originally tried to sell the line it was all joke that got carried away. Then Carney says sorry about the whole thing but those guilty are reassigned within the Liberal campaign. They are not punted.

It is hard for higher-ups to bounce people if they were calling the shots. Then there is Blowhard Doug Ford, Ontario’s shoot from the lip premier. Ford runs off at the mouth.

He could have shut up, if that’s possible. He praises Teneycke and says Poilievre would be better off if the Conservative leader had listened to Teneycke who wanted Poilievre to be more like Carney when it came to Trump. Ford, who huffed and puffed and talked all tough and then folded to Trump, says sometimes the truth hurts.

Yes, it does hurt, Premier Ford. [email protected].
