We’ve learned something about this team every game we’ve played this season,” said St. Bernard’s head coach Beth Terho, whose squad visits Dracut on Monday. “We were coming off a game against Lunenburg where I thought the girls played a little scared and we made some mistakes.
Today, we came in confident and cleaned up those mistakes.”Monty Tech has a week to prepare for its next opponent as the Bulldogs visit Greater Lowell Tech on April 24.“We got off to a tough start in that first quarter and dug ourselves a hole that we couldn’t climb out of,” said Monty Tech assistant coach Savannah Caskins, who was filling in for head coach Bethany Johnson.
“After that first quarter I though defensively we improved, our midfielders improved and our attack improved and that’s something to build on.”The Bernardians grabbed control early and never let go. The St.
Bernard’s offense exploded for nine first quarter goals and enjoyed a 9-0 lead after the first 12 minutes. Monty Tech got on the board with a pair of goals, courtesy of senior captain Sara Munroe to pull within 9-2 late in the half but St. Bernard’s closed the half strong with a tally from freshman Ani Moge and the hosts took a 10-2 lead into the halftime break.
In the third quarter, St. Bernard’s potted the first two goals to build a 12-2 lead and activate a running clock. The Bernardians added one more before the end of the frame and held a 13-2 advantage entering the final stanza.
In the final quarter, both teams traded a goal as Munroe netted her third of the contest halfway through the frame before junior Sophia Bellemare capped the St. Bernard’s scoring with 1:57 left on the clock.St.

We had a lot of girls from a lot of girls.”Sophomore Maille Fluharty and senior captain Evie LeSage each chipped in with three goals. Senior captain Megan Richard had two goals while Bellemere and senior Isabelle Comeau each had one goal for the winners.
