A drunken mum who sank her teeth into a man's arm during a violent outburst has been ordered to stay off booze for 90 days. As previously reported by Chroniclelive , Ellie Dilbert broke the skin on the victim's arm and caused it to bleed after she sank her teeth into it in Newcastle's Bigg Market . A court heard that the 20-year-old and a pal had pulled the man's girlfriend to the ground and he'd tried to intervene when she bit him.
The mum-of-one, also assaulted a Newcastle City Centre bar manager by dragging her by the hair just two months earlier, then swung punches at police before kicking an officer. Dilbert, of Gorse Hill Way, in Blakelaw , pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm, being drunk and disorderly, assaulting an emergency worker and assault by beating at a hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court in March and the case was adjourned until this week for sentence. Dilbert was given an 18-month community order and must do a 90-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement, where she must wear a tag to prove she hasn't consumed any booze.
She must also complete a six-month mental health treatment requirement and pay compensation to her victims. Sentencing her, District Judge Paul Currer said: "One would have hoped that, after the first incident with the bar manager, it might have been a lesson to you that drinking to excess and involving yourself in incidents like that was something to be avoided. Keep up to date with all the latest breaking news and top stories from the North East with our free newsletter "However, in February, you got yourself involved in another incident.
It was a dispute between a young woman and one of your friends. Her boyfriend tried to break the matter up. What you did after was truly appalling - biting is a dreadful thing to do.
"When the police came, you would have hoped that someone of your background may have come to your senses but, instead, you lashed out at them. It's truly shameful behaviour." The court heard that, in relation to the first offence, Dilbert was in Pumphreys, in Newcastle, on December 8 last year and got involved in a fight.
When the manager came to intervene, Dilbert was captured on CCTV grabbing her hair and trying to drag her over a pool table. Then, on February 7 she was in the Bigg Market with a friend. Chike Anieto, prosecuting, said: "The complainant's girlfriend was pulled to the ground by two females.
He tried to intervene and diffuse the situation but the two females approached him and one, this defendant, bit him on the arm. "Following that, police arrived and broke-up the incident. An officer tried to intervene and break-up the situation but the defendant swung several punches at her before she was able to detain her.
" The court was told that Dilbert then kicked the officer several times in the leg. In a statement, the officer said: "There was no reason for her to assault me and such behaviour is completely unacceptable and shouldn't be tolerated." The bite victim said: "I attempted to diffuse the situation and protect my girlfriend, I didn't deserve to be bitten.
" Rebecca Highton, defending, said Dilbert had no past convictions, suffered with mental health problems, was remorseful and realised she'd been drinking too much alcohol. The solicitor added: "When her young child is with his father, she gets into the wrong company and drinks to excess, to the point that she lashes out violently. This only happens when she's with certain individuals.
"She doesn't start the incidents - she's a bit of a follower." Dilbert must pay the bite victim £200 compensation and the bar manager £100. ChronicleLive is now on WhatsApp and we want you to join our communities.
