Body of man found dumped in well

Chennai: The body of a 35-year-old man was found dumped in a well on a farn near Guduvancherry on Sunday. The victim was discovered naked, with his hands and feet tied and a stone fastened to his torso. Passersby who noticed a foul smell emnating from a dilapidated 30ft-deep well alerted the Guduvancherry police .

Officers retrieved the body and sent it to the Chengalpet Govt Hospital for autopsy. They have registered a case and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to trace the suspects.



The victim remains unidentified. Police are cross-checking missing person reports across several stations to establish his identity. Officers said they strongly suspect it to be a case of murder.
