Bridges Health and Wellness: new Elko clinic

Bridges Health and Wellness is a new clinic in Elko which opened the beginning of March, located inside the hospital. “We are right now just a cash pay or a membership pay. We are working on our credentialing, which is how the majority of insurance is here in town,” Bridges co-owner family nurse practitioner Norah Lusk said.

They plan to introduce this insurance around mid-July. Lusk said they focus on a variety of issues related to men’s and women’s health. They do some hormone replacement therapy, and track disease processes “and typical issues that come along with aging for both men and women, as far as hormones and adrenal system issues.



” “We also do some primary care, same-day sick appointments, and weight loss. We do team physicals as well as sports physicals,” she added. The clinic staff will be going to Spring Creek High School, Elko High School and Wells High School this summer for sports physicals.

“This makes it a little easier on the families and the kids, especially during the summer,” Lusk said. “The only thing we don't do right now is walk-ins,” she said. “We're not set up to be an urgent care, so to speak – but we do same-day sick appointments.

” Lusk is the co-owner of Bridges Health and Wellness and is also the co-founder of Nevada Institute of Forensic Nursing. “There are days that I get called to go do sexual assault exams and forensic interviewing and things like that,” Lusk said. “Having a waiting room full of patients is conducive to being able to do that if necessary.

So that's why we run it like that.” Lusk said they have designed Bridges Health and Wellness to help meet area health care needs. “We have had a lot of people who have expressed to us that there's not a whole lot for men's health, and it's very difficult to find a primary care provider – or get into that primary care provider, just for even regular appointments.
