BRADFORD Bulls Women battled hard in the Challenge Shield quarter-finals on Sunday, but were no match for a superior Salford side. In a one-sided affair in Greater Manchester, the Red Devils Women showed exactly why they fell just two games short of returning to Super League last season. Full back Anna Dennis tore Bulls to shreds, using her pace to score a brilliant hat-trick, while also adding six conversions to the total in a 52-0 win.
Lauren Ellison, Alex Simpson and Jadine McVernon all helped themselves to a brace, while Holly Waddington also crossed the whitewash for her first try in Salford colours. Bulls are not due back in action now for another month, when they host Oulton Raidettes in the Women’s Championship on May 25, looking to bounce back from their opening day defeat at Swinton Lionesses. They will take some confidence from their last-16 game in the Challenge Shield earlier this month however, a sizzling 46-6 home win over Rochdale Mayfield to set up the Salford tie.
