Classical music and cake for those living with dementia

The programme will include popular classical pieces and film music, as well as singalongs like Cheek to Cheek, Singin’ in the Rain and The Sound of Music.

The events, open to everyone, aim to create a relaxed, social setting for people to enjoy classical music. The performances by the orchestra's Teatime Trio—Eluned Pierce on harp, Owain Bailey on flute and Kate Keats on cello—are hosted at Lighthouse Poole. The next concert is on Wednesday, June 25, at 11am.

Sue Sharpe, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra participate senior programme manager, said: "Cake Concerts are dementia-friendly but not dementia exclusive. "For those feeling isolated or lonely, the concerts provide a wonderful and welcoming environment in which to socialise with others as well as providing a daytime musical experience.



"People can come along, listen to the beautiful music and then share a couple of slices of cake and a good chat too." The Cake Concerts are designed for people living in both the community and care homes. Tickets for the concert at Lighthouse Poole are on sale now.
