LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday conducted surprise visits to several cities along the GT Road to inspect cleanliness arrangements and monitor progress on the ongoing anti-encroachment drive.

Traveling in a vehicle, the chief minister visited cities including Sambrial, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Ghakhar Mandi and Gujranwala and reviewed road conditions and assessed sanitation efforts under the ‘Suthra Punjab’ initiative. She expressed satisfaction over the improved cleanliness standards and instructed local administrations to further enhance their efforts.

“Keeping our cities and villages clean is a fundamental duty of the government, but public cooperation is equally essential,” she remarked during her visit. In Gujranwala, Maryam Nawaz made unannounced stops at commercial areas including Kharadan Bazaar, Gondlanwala Bazaar, Degi Bazaar, and Chowk Farooq-e-Azam. Interacting with citizens and shopkeepers, she inquired about their concerns related to hygiene, road infrastructure, traffic flow, and encroachments.



Her presence sparked excitement among the locals, with one shopkeeper saying, “It’s an honor to see our Chief Minister at my shop. Her hands-on approach is inspiring.” During her visit, she even paused to buy traditional vermicelli from a popular local shop, drawing praise for her down-to-earth demeanor.

Establishment needs PTI: Imran Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visited the residence of late MPA Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chaudhry Arshad Warraich in Sambrial. She expressed condolences to the widow of the late Arshad Warraich, daughters Hina Arshad Warraich and Zeena Mustafa Warraich. The CM said that Arshad Warraich was an asset to the PML-N and a good politician.

She said that the political and social services of Warraich will be remembered for a long time. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister Mian Zeeshan Rafique, Minister of State Ch Armaghan, MNAs and MPAs Manshaullah Butt, Faisal Ikram, Syeda Nosheen and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman were also present.
