A dispute has broken out among the children of legendary juju musician, Sunday Adegeye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade (KSA), concerning his current condition and location. As reported by PUNCH, Damilola Esther, one of KSA’s daughters, took to social media to accuse her step-brother, Dayo, of allegedly holding their father against his will and mismanaging event bookings. In a series of posts, she claimed that Dayo, whom she referred to as KSA’s manager, had been stealing from their father and called for his arrest.
In one post, she wrote, “Dad told my brother he wants to go home. Where is he? Where are his phones? He has not been online or picking his calls. Where is he?” In another, she added, “I want Dayo (manager) apprehended.
I want him to provide all the money they have been stealing from him. He has a UK visa, thinking he can run.” However, speaking exclusively to Punch Online on Monday, Dayo dismissed the accusations, insisting their father was in good health and active.
“The allegation is false. On Saturday, April 26, 2025, my dad performed at a fan’s 60th birthday at Musa Yar’Adua Street, Victoria Island, Lagos. He also had band rehearsals last week and is scheduled to perform in Akure on May 1,” he said.
Dayo clarified that he is not KSA’s official manager but only assists him informally. “She (Damilola) doesn’t live in Nigeria. On Easter Sunday, she called to speak with dad, and I handed him the phone.
They spoke for about 30 minutes. I even invited her to come to Nigeria if she wished to see him,” he added. Expressing his disapproval of Damilola’s public comments, Dayo said, “You cannot speak ill of my father and expect me to still engage with you, no matter who you are.
” He also mentioned that King Sunny Ade would soon release an official statement to address the situation and reassure the public. “I am not employed as a manager and I am not on any payroll. I am only helping out temporarily because he trusts me.
This is my way of repaying him for everything he has done for me,” Dayo explained, emphasizing that performing remains one of KSA’s greatest passions. Backing Dayo’s claims, another of KSA’s sons, David, affirmed in a separate interview that their father is in good health. “As I’m speaking with you, daddy is fine.
He just finished an event. I have evidence to show he’s doing well,” David said, offering to provide more proof if necessary..
