The Edmonton Oilers seemed to have found themselves back in a bit of a groove after a rough couple weeks. Going 4–4–1 from March 20 to April 7, the Oilers have gone on to win three of their last four and unfortunately lost home ice advantage from the L.A.
Kings, their Pacific Division rivals. 100 reasons to like Connor McDavid It has definitely been quite the down year for Connor McDavid, with a season that has had a three game suspension and an injury that kept him out of the Oilers lineup for eight games. Even with 15 games not played this season, it’s no surprise that once again, McDavid has hit the century mark.
It only took one period, not even halfway completed, for McDavid to set up Ty Emberson for his second goal of the season and second against the San Jose Sharks. Ty tallies another against his former team & Connor captures point 100 #LetsGoOilers pic.twitter.
com/kjJI00bJVz Even with all this time that was missed, McDavid was still able to find a way to produce and hit 100 points, and it’s all thanks to his stellar play lately, which has seen him get ten points in his last four games. The Oilers since McDavid was announced back in the lineup and played with the team, have averaged four goals per game and have only allowed two goals against per game—minus their most recent loss to the L.A.
Kings without McDavid on April 14. With eight primary assists on the Oilers last 13 goals and a +9 rating, it is safe to say that the Captain is officially back! McDavid playoff magic incoming Recently, Connor McDavid has been a machine in the playoffs over the last few years. This was evident, when he ended up winning the Conn Smythe Trophy last year after posting 42 points in a mere 25 games, en route to their game seven loss to the Panthers.
McDavid didn’t even bother heading out and accepting the award (I mean who would in that scenario) and became the third player in NHL history with 40+ points in a single postseason, behind only Mario Lemieux and Wayne Gretzky. In his last three postseason appearances, losing to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions each time (Colorado in 2022, Vegas in 2023, and Florida in 2024) McDavid has been spectacular with 26 goals and 69 assists for 95 points in 53 games. McDavid and the Oilers have been through it all, and it’s only a matter of time before they reach the peak of the mountain.
It all starts with their Captain: Connor McDavid. This article first appeared on The Oil Rig and was syndicated with permission..
