Do the Dallas Cowboys have a type? And does this NFL Draft, led by new coach Brian Schottenheimer, feed into it?

With the No. 14 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected Tyler Booker, an offensive guard out of Alabama. Booker will likely be the Cowboys' starting right guard from day one, and should be an instant upgrade to the offensive line, particularly in the run game.

Booker was the first guard and fourth offensive lineman taken in the first round on Thursday, and should be a key contributor right away."Booker covers up defenders and gets some push in the run game. His footwork is solid on zone runs, and he takes sound angles working up to the second level.

He is an outstanding competitor who plays with an edge and to the whistle. Booker doesn't change directions well on tape, but he's an effective pass blocker who delivers a powerful punch. His outstanding length makes him tough to get around.

His size makes him hard to move. He identifies assignments and communicates with teammates. He picks up line stunts and pressures.

" Wrote ESPN's Steve Muench prior to the draft.ESPN's pre-draft player comparison for Booker? Cowboys left guard Tyler Smith. Interesting enough, the two aren't the only Tyler's on Dallas' offensive line, as Tyler Guyton slots in beside Smith at left tackle.

ESPN's Matt Miller was a fan of the pick, and thinks the trio will work wonders for Dallas, who have had a long history of successful lineman picks."Dallas' run game suffered in 2024, and the front office is now committed to improving the run game through the offensive line. Booker will line up at right guard between Cooper Beebe, who was drafted in Round 3 last year, and right tackle Terence Steele.

With the retirement of Zack Martin, the Cowboys are immediately trying to replace the future Hall of Famer with one of the safest players in the draft. Booker wasn't ranked in the top 20 on my board, but the Cowboys' history of drafting offensive linemen in Round 1 is brilliant." Wrote Miller.

Guyton was the Cowboys' first round selection last year, being picked with the No. 29 overall selection. Smith, a two-time Pro Bowler, was the Giants' first round selection in 2022, with the No.

24 pick. The Cowboys will be deploying three Tylers who were all first rounders, forcing defenses to break through the "Great Wall of Tyler" as some fans have begun to call the unit. It's a shame Tyler Biadsz isn't still with the Cowboys.
