Damon Wayans has penned a heartfelt thank you to cast, creatives and crew of Poppa’s House, following news of its cancellation Tuesday after one season on CBS. “Creating poppas house was such a beautiful journey,” Wayans wrote in a post on Instagram alongside a cast photo (you can see below). “My heart is full as I say thank you to every single person who made Poppa’s House such a meaningful experience.
To the incredible cast you brought so much heart, soul, and joy to every scene. It was an absolute honor to share the screen with you and create something special together. To the writers, producers, directors, and the entire crew you were the heartbeat of this show.

Wayans Sr. portrays the legendary talk radio host and happily divorced “Poppa,” who has his point of view challenged at work when a new female co-host is hired. His home life is no better, as the patriarch of the family finds himself still parenting his adult son, a brilliant dreamer who is trying to pursue his passion while being a responsible father and husband.
