KARACHI - A 50-year-old online motorcycle delivery rider was shot dead by robbers in Karachi early on Saturday during a robbery attempt, as the city’s rising tide of street crime continues unabated bringing the number of people killed in similar incidents since the start of the year to 34. The latest killing took place near Bagh Korangi Bridge in Shah Faisal Colony, within the jurisdiction of Sharafi Goth police station. The victim was identified as Nadeem Ahmed, a father of three and mosque caretaker who also worked part-time as a delivery rider to support his family.
Nadeem was travelling from North Karachi to Korangi when he was attacked. After being shot, he was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. His body was handed over to relatives after legal formalities.
Speaking to media, Nadeem’s relatives expressed deep anger and frustration, saying lawlessness in Karachi was pushing ordinary citizens into fear and insecurity. Residents complain that incidents are increasing, especially during late hours.
