Broom was fatally injured when the Center Console boat he was on got hit by a Nitro Bass vessel. He was pronounced dead at the scene. John K.
Clark, 44, of Cullman and Mississippi man Jeffrey C. Little, 62, were also both on the Center Console vessel. ALEA said both men were thrown overboard during the crash and drowned.
Their bodies were recovered later. The incident occurred during the start of Day 2 of the tournament on Lewis Smith Lake in northern Alabama, and an emergency helicopter was rushed to the site of the accident. Joey M.

Major League Fishing also announced it has cancelled the tournament. The crash occurred around 7:07am in the area of Burr's Island, outside of Miller Bottom.
Davis had posted on his Instagram hours earlier, reflecting on the first day of competition in the Tackle Warehouse Invitational tournament. Alongside a photo of himself with one of his catches, he wrote: 'Solid day 1. 13-12 has me in 15th place.
'Looking for another solid bag tomorrow to move up. Im ready to get back out there!' Davis' girlfriend Kalyn Meeks also appeared to confirm the involvement of her partner in the crash, posting on Instagram: 'Please say a prayer for my sweet boyfriend Flint and all others involved in this tragic accident.' Major League Fishing added: 'Emergency personnel and local authorities responded immediately and remain on scene managing the situation.
'Out of respect for those involved, and to ensure the accuracy of all information, no further details will be released at this time. MLF is working closely with law enforcement and emergency officials.
