The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Ekiti State Chapter has urged christians to work towards fostering love and unity in the society exemplified in the lives of all religious leaders including Jesus Christ and Prophet Muhammad. A statement by the President of the Council – Alhaji (Dr) Hameed Afolabi Bakare said Easter, according to christianity marked the resurrection of Jesus Christ after he was nailed to the cross and his eventual death. Afolabi noted that Easter celebrations marked the successful completion of the forty days fasting by Christians in emulation of Jesus Christ during his lifetime. The Muslim body used the occasion to rejoice with the State Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, his wife – Prof Olayemi Oyebanji , the Deputy Governor – Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, members of the State Executive Council the Legislature and the good people of Ekiti State. The Apex Islamic Body therefore said it became imperative to felicitate with a performing Governor like BAO and his Government during a festive season like this.



According to him “we congratulate and rejoice with our amiable and impactful Governor, his family and other leaders of our dear State and the entire citizenry of the State for witnessing yet another Easter celebration. The religious leader expressed joy and happiness about the good and commendable developmental works that the BAO Administration was doing across Ekiti State. He said the Muslim community in the state was proud of the BAO-led Government and urged the Administration to continue with its good works.

Alhaji Bakare assured the government of the continuous support of the Ekiti Muslim Community to further enhance peaceful co-existence religious harmony, unity, progress and development of the State and the Citizenry. He congratulated the entire Christians in Ekiti State through the chairman Christian Association of Nigeria, Ekiti State chapter in person of Rev. Dr.

Emmanuel Adeyinka Aribasoye, Nigeria and the world at large on the occasion of the Easter celebrations. Dr Bakare prayed to Allah for a safer, more secured and more prosperous Ekiti State, Nigeria and the World..
