Board shuffling: Several area school boards selected new officers last week. Union Public Schools’ Board of Education voted to name Joey Reyes as its new president and Dr. Chris McNiel as its vice president.
Steve Nguyen, who ran unopposed for the Zone 5 seat, was formally sworn in for a five-year term. Members of Owasso Public Schools’ Board of Education rotate among offices each year. Stephanie Ruttman is the board’s new president, and Rhonda Mills is the new vice president.
Sapulpa Public Schools’ Board of Education elected Steve McCormick president, Larry Hoover first vice president and Melinda Ryan second vice president. After running unopposed, Johnny Merrill was sworn in as the Sapulpa board’s new District 5 representative, which covers the far eastern side of the district’s attendance area. Merrill succeeds Wayne Richards.
