MUNFORD, Tenn. - An elementary school teacher was arrested Monday for child endangerment and other crimes, the Munford Police Department said. Melissa Rose, a third grade teacher, was arrested at Munford Elementary School on charges of child endangerment, public intoxication and violation of open container laws, police said.

According to Munford PD, they were contacted by school staff Monday afternoon after the staff had seen the teacher exhibiting "concerning behavior." Police said the School Resource Officer responded immediately, conducted an investigation at the scene, and determined there was probable cause to make an arrest. Munford Police said Rose was taken to the Tipton County Jail without an incident.

"The safety and well-being of our children is our highest priority," said Munford Police Chief Randal Baskin. "We appreciate the cooperation of Munford Elementary School staff and administration during this incident." CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD Trending stories:.
