Emma Mackey First Cast In Greta Gerwig's 'Chronicles of Narnia,' Will Play White Witch

Emma Mackey has just been announced to be cast in the upcoming new The Chronicles of Narnia movie! The 29-year-old actress will reunite with her Barbie director Greta Gerwig for the latest adaptation, according to THR , which is said to be centering around the sixth book in the series. . Per THR , the White Witch, “whose name is Jadis, is the primary antagonist of not just Magician’s Nephew but also the best known of all the Narnia books, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. She is the one who plunged Narnia into an endless winter (where it never ever gets to Christmas) and turns her enemies into statues.



” This marks the first official casting of any character from the upcoming movie adaptation, though there have been many rumors and actors reportedly being eyed or offered roles. At one point, Charli XCX was also rumored to be in talks for the White Witch character, but it reportedly came down to Emma and Margaret Qualley . Meryl Streep has been named for a role , and Daniel Craig was also reportedly offered a role .
