Through your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw attention to the alarming issue of environmental pollution in Karachi. The city is drowning in rubbish, choked with smoke, and struggling with contaminated water—yet little is being done to address these growing problems. Air pollution has become a major health hazard due to unchecked vehicular emissions, industrial smoke, and the rampant burning of waste.
Breathing in Karachi’s air feels like inhaling poison, with many residents suffering from respiratory illnesses. The water crisis is equally severe, as untreated sewage and industrial waste continue to pollute our rivers and the sea, making clean drinking water a privilege rather than a basic right. Adding to this misery is the city’s poor waste management.
Piles of rubbish line the streets, drains are clogged, and plastic waste is everywhere. The absence of an efficient disposal system has turned Karachi into a giant dustbin. Meanwhile, deforestation and the disappearance of green spaces have worsened urban flooding and increased temperatures.
Nuclear Iran It is high time the authorities took serious action. Strict environmental regulations, improved waste management, better public transport to reduce vehicle emissions, and large-scale tree-planting efforts are necessary to tackle this crisis. Moreover, public awareness campaigns must be launched to educate people about responsible environmental practices.
