Ex-mayor stabbed and husband slain in rampage at their home: police

The first Black mayor of Lewisville, Texas, was stabbed, and her husband was killed at the hands of their grandson in an early morning attack Monday, police said.Mitchell Blake Reinacher, 23, has been charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the stabbing of longtime Denton County Commissioner Bobbie J. Mitchell and her husband, Fred Mitchell, the Daily Beast reported.When police arrived and found the wounded couple just before 4 a.m., both victims had suffered from stab wounds and were transported to hospitals. Reinacher, meanwhile, was still on scene “and was immediately taken into custody without incident,” according to a Lewisville Police Department statement. “Commissioner Mitchell currently serves the Lewisville area and is a prominent public servant,” according to the Lewisville Police Department. “She is a former Lewisville City Council member and was the city’s first Black mayor, elected in 1993.
