In Udaipur, a father mortgaged his nine-year-old son to pay Rs 45,000 for his second marriage. A government teacher rescued the child from criminals in Gujarat A disturbing incident has come to light in Udaipur where a father mortgaged his own child out of greed for a second marriage. According to local customs, he was required to pay a daapa amount (various taxes paid by the groom’s side for the marriage) of Rs 45,000 for his second marriage, a sum he did not possess.

Consequently, he mortgaged his minor son and continued to make monthly instalment payments. According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar , the incident occurred in Ambadeh area of Kotada in Udaipur. It was revealed that the child’s father, Mirkha, had become engaged to a woman named Temi, and they started living together.

The local panchas insisted they marry according to social customs, which required a daapa amount of Rs 45,000. Unable to procure the funds, Mirkha mortgaged his nine-year-old son to a herdsman for Rs 45,000 around 10 months ago. Rescue Effort By A Government Teacher Upon learning about this, a government teacher managed to locate the child and rescued him from the clutches of the lender in Gujarat.

The teacher, Durgaram Muwal, who works at the Railway Training Government Higher Secondary School in Udaipur, received information that the family in Ambadeh had mortgaged their minor child and sent him to Idar in Gujarat. Despite paying monthly instalments, the family was not allowed to meet the child, only occasionally speaking to him on the phone. Durgaram explained that the father had no specific information about the lenders.

By some means, he managed to contact them and expressed his desire to meet the child. When the creditors agreed, Durgaram, along with his colleague Kunal Chaudhary, travelled to the location given in Idar, Gujarat. The criminals initially led them to a deserted forest, 100 kilometres away, but later fled.

The teacher then made inquiries in a nearby village and identified the culprit. Several children were found at the loan shark’s house. A woman present initially claimed the children were hers, but the teacher eventually secured the child’s release.

However, as they departed, the criminals pursued them for about 10 kilometres and even attempted to attack them. However, Durgaram and his colleague Kunal pulled off a heroic rescue, freeing the nine-year-old from captivity..
