The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday that Joy Chandra Nath, 29, was arrested and charged with murder after Maria Camila Garcia-Molina, 24, was found dead inside her vehicle. Investigators said a police officer was flagged down Saturday afternoon by a woman who said her three-year-old granddaughter was found wandering in the parking lot of her residential complex by a neighbour.

That person recognized the girl and escorted her to the grandmother’s residence. Police said the child had what appeared to be dried blood on her face and clothing. Additional officers responded and began searching for the child’s mother, who was not home.

Following a search of the area, cops discovered the victim unresponsive and suffering from apparent stab wounds inside her vehicle. Firefighters responded to the scene and determined the woman was dead. Investigators said blood was found on the front passenger seat and a body was covered by blankets on the rear floorboard, according to an arrest report obtained by CBS News .

The toddler told detectives that her mom was with a man and she was “hit in the head and was now sleeping.” Family members told police that Garcia-Molina had an ex-boyfriend who allegedly stalked her in the past. An online fundraiser has been set up by Garcia-Molina’s mother. “Camila was the most beautiful and loving girl that you can ever imagine,” Adalgiza Molina wrote. “She was a hardworking woman who had dreams, plans, and a beautiful future ahead that was taken away from her too soon.

She left behind a beautiful three-year-old girl who will never see her mom again.” The GoFundMe has raised more than $20,000 for Garcia-Molina’s burial and to “give her baby the most beautiful future.”.
