A statement signed by the team manager of Kogi United, Tijani Ibrahim and made available to journalists on Wednesday, noted that the much anticipated friendly match will take place at the FIFA Goal Project, Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Thursday 17th April 2025 at 4pm. According to him, “All arrangements have been concluded for the team who are preparing for the Nationwide League One playoffs to face the Flying Eagles of Nigeria who are preparing for the U-20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt later this month.

“Kogi United FC, on the other hand, would look to use the high profile friendly against the Nation’s U-20 side to assess its players and the entire team’s level of preparedness ahead of the commencement of the 2025 edition of the Nations 3rd tier league, the Nationwide League one”. Technical Adviser of the team, Coach Gilbert Opana, said the game against the Flying Eagles is indeed a high profile one considering the fact that both teams are preparing for fresh challenges ahead. The former Jigawa golden stars gaffer had earlier told journalists in Lokoja that there’s no better time for a quality encounter like this, adding that he looks forward to meeting the Flying Eagles, especially considering what the team have achieved so far under Coach Aliyu Zubairu.
