Following news of Nawat's appointment, Miss Universe declares board as the only body that can decide on leadership

News of Miss Grand International founder Nawat Itsaragrisil's appointment as Miss Universe executive director swept headlines earlier this week

The Miss Universe Organization issued a statement Wednesday saying "all decisions concerning leadership appointments, board composition, and organizational governance are made exclusively by the MUO Board of Directors." In its statement, MUO said the Board "is a fully independent and autonomous body" that has its own governing bylaws and "without influence from any external entity, including JKN Global Group." It also talked about the "clear structural and legal separation between our Board and any external shareholders or partners.

MUO's statement came after Miss Universe Thailand took to social media Wednesday to congratulate Miss Grand International Founder Nawat Itsaragrisil for his appointment as executive director of Miss universe Organization. Nawat Itsaragrisil on his appointment as Executive Director of the Miss Universe Organization. His visionary leadership and unwavering dedication continue to elevate the standards of pageantry across the Universe," Miss Universe Thailand's post read. Nawat acquired the MIss Universe Thailand franchise last February.
