Former Indian coach Abhishek Nayar is going to join Mumbai T20 league as the consultant of South Central Maratha Royals. Abhishek Nayar, who is no longer with the Indian team as their coach, is someone who is highly desired individual in the T20 leagues. He has been hired by Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals as their consultant for the third edition of the T20 Mumbai league. Abhishek will be starting this post following him rejoining the coaching staff of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

One of the two new franchises in the T20 Mumbai league put up for the auctions in the Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals. Right after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 comes to an end on May 26, the 3rd edition of the Mumbai league will begin.Abhishek Nayar is going to be accompanied by Amit Dani, who is a former pacer from Mumbai and was named the team’s head coach.



Along with them, another former coaching staff member has joined one of the league’s team- ARCS Andheri. Paras Mhambrey, who is currently working for Mumbai Indians (MI), has also joined ARCS Andheri as their mentor.“As the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), we are committed to promoting and empowering our local coaches and support staff, ensuring they receive greater opportunities to grow and contribute not only to Mumbai cricket but also to Indian cricket.

By nurturing homegrown talent, we aim to strengthen the foundation of our cricketing ecosystem and create pathways for sustained excellence,” said Ajinkya Naik, President of Mumbai Cricket Association as quoted by TOI.The league is going to mark its return after a break of six years, and Nayar will be at work at the auction on May 7. A maximum of 240 players are going to go under the hammer, with every franchise having a budget of 1 crore.

Though the base price of all the players in this auction will be Rs. 2 lakh, the players of Ranji Trophy will have a base price of Rs. 10 lakh.
