The 34-year-old pharmacist filed a complaint with the police on Saturday. The police registered a case under sections 316 (criminal breach of trust) and 318 (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

According to the complainant, the medical practitioner approached him with a plan to start a medical store in the hospital run by the former. Assistant inspector Yuvraj Kalkutge of the Sangvi police told TOI that according to the complainant, the medical practitioner was running a hospital in a complex at Pimple Gurav and approached the complainant to start a medical shop in the complex for the hospital. "In Jan 2023, the complainant made an agreement with the medical practitioner and two joint owners of the shop.

The medical practitioner's father was a guarantor," Kalkutge said. The officer said the accused took Rs 80 lakh from the pharmacist under the pretext of a deposit and by citing different reasons. "The medical practitioner also took medicines worth Rs 15 lakh from the complainant for the treatment of patients in the hospital," the officer said.

Kalkutge said recently, the accused in the case forced the complainant to vacate the shop. "Despite repeated follow-ups, when the complainant did not get his deposit and medicine bills collectively worth Rs 95 lakh from the trio, he approached us and lodged a complaint. Our investigations are ongoing," Kalkutge said.
