Full security being provided to polio vaccination teams, workers, says IGP

IG Punjab said that full security is being provided to polio vaccination teams and workers. More than 18,000 officers and personnel have been deployed across the province, including Lahore, to safeguard polio workers.

Punjab Police spokesperson said that across the province, 457 Inspectors, 1,013 Sub-Inspectors, 1,654 ASIs, and more than 350 Lady Police Constables are performing security duties for the polio campaign. In Lahore alone, over 1,500 officers and personnel are engaged in providing security to polio workers. IG Punjab said that motorcycles squads and vehicles of police stations are conducting effective patrolling in areas covered by the polio campaign.



Dr. Usman Anwar instructed that Dolphin, PRU, and police station teams must ensure effective patrolling in the Union Councils where polio vaccination is being carried out. RPOs and DPOs should personally review the security arrangements of the anti-polio teams.

IG Punjab further said that any negligence or laxity in the protection of anti-polio workers and teams will not be tolerated under any circumstances.In case of any untoward incident, immediate legal action will be taken. All circle officers must ensure security for polio workers keeping in view the local sensitivity.
