Motorists will be greeted with lower pump prices of petroleum products this week, as fuel retailers on Monday announced another round of downward adjustments to mark the second straight week of rollbacks for gasoline and kerosene. In separate advisories, Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex), Seaoil Philippines Corp.
, and Shell Pilipinas Corp. said they will cut prices per liter of gasoline by P3.60, diesel by P2.
90, and kerosene by P3.30. Cleanfuel will implement the same changes, excluding kerosene which it does not carry.
The adjustments will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, for all the firms, except for Cleanfuel which will roll back prices at 8:01 a.
m. the same day. Other firms have yet to make similar announcements for the week.
The Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) earlier projected big-time pump price rollbacks this week, citing the escalating trade tensions between China and the United States, the expected cut in Asia-bound crude from Saudi Arabia in May, and the accelerated production by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Firms last week rolled back prices per liter of gasoline by P0.10, and kerosene by P0.
50, while keeping those of diesel unchanged. This brought year-to-date adjustments to a net increase of P4.55 per liter for gasoline, P4.
