Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas explains why Chris Paul is a top-five point guard, but not even top-10 in another category. Many believed that Chris Paul’s NBA career was more or less over when he was traded by the Phoenix Suns after a three-year stint with the franchise. However, once again CP3 found a way to re-invent himself and just wrapped up the 20th season of his career, playing with the San Antonio Spurs .
There is a cloud of doubt over Paul’s NBA future as he will soon turn 40 years old. Meanwhile, ex-NBA star Gilbert Arenas dropped a different take on Paul. Chris Paul is not a top-10 passer, says Gilbert Arenas There is a chance that Paul has played the final game of his NBA career .
Keeping that in mind, many have already started to share their honest views on CP3’s journey, including Arenas. In a recent video, Arenas gave Paul his flowers for being one of the best point guards to ever play in the league but claimed he’s not a good passer. So much so that Agent 0 would pick Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton over Paul in that department.
“Chris Paul is a great point guard. You can say he’s a top-five point guard ever, but when you’re talking about best passers ever? We wouldn’t be in the top 10. That’s a talent.
“But that’s what made Magic [Johnson], a great point guard. When it comes to passing, I’ll have [Tyrese Haliburton] up there. I’ll have him higher than Chris Paul on that.
” Hali is currently one of the most fun-to-watch players in the league. He’s known for his incredible and flashy passing, which CP3 has never incorporated into his arsenal. Arenas points out differences between Paul and Haliburton The former Golden State Warriors star further elaborated on his point and explained the biggest difference between the two guards.
“I wouldn’t have him as a better point guard than Chris Paul. But just passing ability? Chris Paul plays the game slow, he plays playoff style. “He’s trying not to turn the ball over.
How Haliburton plays the game? Everybody who’s played the game that fast does a turnover.” While Arenas makes a good argument for Haliburton, at the end of the day, most teams would rather have a turnover-conscious guard over someone with a risky playing style. Chris Paul is NOT a Top 10 passer pic.
