Calls for fresh, transparent, impartial general elections. ISLAMABAD - The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal) yesterday accused the coalition government of failing to protect lives and properties of the citizens. The party’s Central General Council (Majlis-e-Aam) held a key meeting to deliberate on national and international issues, resulting in decisions that underscore the party’s stance on governance, political strategy and Palestine.
The JUI-F leadership expressed deep concern and outrage over the deteriorating law and order situation across Pakistan. The Council condemned, in the strongest terms, what it described as the “worst ever” state of public safety and security. It criticized both federal and provincial governments for their apparent failure to protect the lives and properties of citizens, holding both elected govts and state institutions responsible for their inaction and inefficiency, said a party statement.
CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz vows greener Punjab on Earth Day The Council specifically pointed to what it termed as “fraudulently established” governments at the center and in the provinces, claiming that these administrations have completely failed to address the pressing issues faced by the public, including establishing peace and resolving socio-economic challenges. Reiterating its demand, JUI-F once again called for fresh, transparent, and impartial general elections, declaring them essential for the restoration of public trust and true democratic governance. In terms of political positioning, the Council resolved that JUI would continue its independent political struggle from its own platform.
It decided not to formally join any existing political alliance, reaffirming the party’s commitment to maintaining its autonomy in national politics. The party however, kept the door open for issue-based cooperation. It was agreed that strategic coordination on shared concerns with other religious and parliamentary opposition parties would be determined by either the Central Executive Committee (Majlis-e-Amla) or the Central Consultative Council (Majlis-e-Shura) in the future.
Bishop grieved over passing of Pope Francis A important agenda item during the meeting was the controversial Mines and Minerals Bill, which the Council rejected outright. The leadership condemned the legislation and announced that JUI-F would seek explanations from its members in the Balochistan Assembly who voted in favor of the bill. These members will be issued show-cause notices to justify their stance.
The Council emphasized the need to address province-specific challenges and stated that the party’s Central Executive Committee and Consultative Council would formulate strategies tailored to the individual needs of each province. In a show of solidarity, the Council reaffirmed JUI-F’s support for the Palestinian people and their ongoing struggle for liberation. The party announced it will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the oppressed people of Gaza and amplify their cause.
As part of this support, the Council approved a series of large-scale public demonstrations titled “Shuhada-e-Gaza Million Marches” to honor the martyrs of Gaza and raise awareness about the humanitarian crisis in Palestine. The marches are scheduled to take place on April 27 in Lahore, May 11 in Peshawar and May 15 in Quetta. Bilawal feels sad over Pope Francis’ death The meeting also issued a nationwide appeal to the Pakistani public, urging them to extend generous financial support for the people of Gaza, who are facing severe hardships due to the ongoing conflict.
