Hairy Bikers' Si King has bravely confessed that his late colleague and friend, Dave Myers, would have urged him to continue their shared journey with resolve. The much-loved TV chef Dave sadly succumbed to cancer at the age of 66 this February, having been diagnosed in the previous year. Nearly eight months after Dave's passing, Si, aged 57, has spoken candidly about handling his loss.

During an emotional interview on BBC 's The One Show, where he appeared to discuss his new book a final tribute to his culinary partnership with Dave, Si told hosts Alex Jones and Alex Scott: "I'm coping ok thank you." His voice thick with emotion, he added: "It's a big loss and a big adjustment but I know Dave would have wanted me to keep pushing up so that's exactly what I will do." Determined to maintain what they built together, Si expressed his dedication: "I want to look after the legacy we have built because it deserves the respect Dave and myself put into it so I'll continue to look after it.

" Wales Online reports how he reflected on the poignant memorial ride for Dave earlier in the year, saying: "I've never short for words but I still can't put it into words because it was just so unbelievable. "46,000 motorcycles and 150,000 people lined up to pay tribute to my friend. It was lovely that the motorcycle community came together and it was wonderful.

It was an amazing energy to be a part of and it was quite remarkable." During the programme, Si revealed the poignant backstory of his latest cookbook and its personal significance. Alex Jones turned to Si and asked: “Of course this book is all about recipes that have come down from one generation to the next, but this book is particularly special isn’t it?” Dave responded: “The book is special because it is the book me and Dave started together before he passed so as his best mate I really wanted to finish it in his honour really so that’s what this book is about.

“It’s all of those recipes that stuck with us throughout the years. It’s full of heritage and full of stories and heart. That’s the lovely thing about food.

” The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
