Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action on Thursday, May 8.BaseballHarford Tech 11, Joppatowne 0: The host Cobras shut out the Mariners in a Class 1A North Region I quarterfinal. Santiago Wienhold went four innings, gave up three hits and struck out eight for the win.
Tyler Walp pitched an inning in relief and struck out three. The Cobras offense was led by Josh Hays (3-for-3) with two doubles and three RBIs, Aiden Sullivan (2-for-3) with a double and three RBIs, Zach Lane (2-for-3) with three runs scored, two stolen bases, and an RBI, Sam Roney (2-for-3 ) with a stolen base and an RBI and Carter Manara (2-for-3) with two runs scored and a stolen base. The Cobras travel to Perryville on Saturday for a second round game.
River Hill 15, Guilford Park 0 (5 innings): Hansen Zhang, Sam Antevill and Jeremiah Jenkins combined efforts to throw a no-hitter for the host Hawks in a Class 3A South Region II quarterfinal. Starater Zhang worked two innings and struck out four. Antevill went two innings, walked two and struck out four and Jenkins pitched one inning, walked two and struck out two.
SoftballBel Air 8, Edgewood 3: The host Bobcats scored six runs in the sixth inning to beat the Rams in a Class 3A North Region II quarterfinal. Sofia Gallahue worked four innings, gave up one run on one hit, walked five and struck out five for the win. Aubrey Buckmaster got the save.
Havre de Grace 18, Lake Clifton 0 (5 innings): Lillia Dalton, Sarah Weitzel and Emma Bauer combined to throw a no-hitter and for the host Warriors in a Class 1A North Region I quarterfinal. Other notables for Havre de Grace included: Ryleigh Curry (3-for-3) with a triple, two runs scored and four RBIs, Kinsey Mentzer (2-for-2) with a two-run home run and two runs scored, Sarah Weitzel (3-for-3) with a single, a double, a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. The Warriors face Fallston in Monday’s second round.
Girls lacrosseReservoir 15, Atholton 7: The host Gators beat the Raiders in a Class 3A South Region II semifinal. Reservoir was led by Riley Ko (5 goals, 2 assists), Bailey Ko (4 goals, 1 assist) and Sam Feher (3 goals). The Gatos advance to Monday’s region finals.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes 18, Tome 6: The host Falcons (11-4) claimed the Chesapeake Area Lacrosse League title game. FCA took a 12-3 lead in the first half over the Titans. The Falcons were led by Maddie Krafchik (5 goals, 2 assists), Lauren Murmaw (4 goals, 1 assist) and Ella Burton (3 goals, 1 assist).
Tome was led by Ainsley Carrillo with a hat trick and Maya Connelly with two goals.Boys golfBoys’ Latin 15, Severn 6: Admirals fell to the undefeated Lakers in the last match of the regular season. After losing thefirst five holes, Severn starters halved or won the back five holes.
Casey Boyd, Will Cawlfield, and Charlie O’Donnell each won 1.5/3 points. Charlie O’Donnell and Connor Merchant halved the team point for their group.
