Photo By Javier Borrego/Europa Press via Getty Images Hansi Flick’s possible XI for Tuesday’s clash Barcelona continue their march to the La Liga title when they welcome Mallorca to the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium for what promises to be a hard-fought contest. The Catalans rescued three points in dramatic fashion at the weekend against Celta Vigo and are still comfortably on top of the table with six matches to go, but cannot afford to drop any points and allow Real Madrid to close the gap just a couple of weeks before the league deciding Clásico. But securing all three points against a tough and well-coached Mallorca side that has lost just two of their last 10 in the league won’t be an easy task, but the Blaugrana must find a way to win to maintain their grip in the championship hunt.
Here’s how we think Hansi Flick will line up his troops for Tuesday’s battle.Defense Photo by Pedro Salado/Getty Images If there’s one criticism to be made about Flick’s incredible coaching job this season, it’s his reluctance to rotate his squad and give more chances to players without many minutes throughout the campaign, but it appears things will change for this one.According to the latest reporting out of Catalonia, Flick has decided to rotate heavily with the Copa del Rey Final and the Champions League semi-final first leg in mind.
The coach could obviously change his mind and he’ll probably give some hints in his pre-match press conference, but he’s what we think the team could look like if there are indeed big changes. Again, this is what we think, and some of those choices might seem a little far-fetched. Still, we are trusting the solid reporting from Catalan sources saying this will likely happen.
The back four in front of Wojciech Szczesny will likely see the return of Ronald Araujo in place of Iñigo Martínez to preserve the veteran for the two big upcoming games, with Pau Cubarsí likely to retain his place. Gerard Martín will look for a bounce-back performance at left-back after a poor showing at the weekend, and the big change we are expecting is Héctor Fort getting a rare start and, perhaps more importantly, Jules Kounde would be getting a very, very rare rest.Midfield Photo by Pablo Rodriguez/Quality Sport Images/Getty Images Midfield is also expected to see plenty of changes with an eye at the next two games, and Eric García has pretty much become the de facto backup pivot whenever Frenkie de Jong and/or Pedri get a rest.
We actually think neither of them will start, meaning Gavi will be Eric’s double pivot partner.Fermín López is also expected to keep his place, but we think it’ll happen as a left winger with Raphinha getting a rest up front. And with Dani Olmo probably not starting to make sure he’s 100% ready against Madrid and Inter, we think Pablo Torre will also get a rare nod to return to the team.

Ferran Torres is also expected to start up front due to Robert Lewandowski’s injury, and both Pau Víctor and Ansu Fati will be hoping for second half minutes if Barça manage to control and win the game without having to use their big names off the bench.Possible XI: Szczesny; Fort, Araujo, Cubarsí, Martín; Eric, Gavi; Yamal, Torre, Fermín; Ferran (4-2-3-1)How do you think Barcelona should line up against Mallorca?
