A talented star lost in industry stereotypes Fluent in Telugu, a trained dancer, and a confident actress, Faria ticked all the boxes. Yet, she seems to be missing from the mainstream Telugu film scene. The question remains: Why? By Pratyusha sista Updated On - 17 April 2025, 01:17 PM Hyderabad : Faria Abdullah made a striking debut with Jathi Ratnalu in 2021.

Her role as the sweet, innocent “Chitti” won hearts, and her performance was appreciated across the board. Fluent in Telugu, a trained dancer, and a confident actress, Faria ticked all the boxes. Yet, she seems to be missing from the mainstream Telugu film scene.

The question remains: Why? One reason often mentioned online, especially on platforms like Reddit , is her height. Faria stands around six feet tall. Many claim this is making it hard for filmmakers to pair her with male leads who are comparatively shorter.

Actors like Jr NTR, Allu Arjun, Nani, Nithiin, Akhil, and Nikhil are generally under 5’10”, and some are even shorter. This, according to many, is a major barrier. But if height is truly the problem, why was there no issue in Jathi Ratnalu, where her co-star Naveen Polishetty is reportedly 5’10”? Also, Telugu cinema is not short of tall actors, like Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Nagarjuna, and Gopichand are all well above 6 feet.

She was also a great fit alongside Allari Naresh in Aa Okkati Adakku, proving that she pairs well with tier-2 actors, even if not with top-tier stars yet. So, what exactly is stopping filmmakers from casting her? Many fans are frustrated. They argue that talent should be the only thing that matters.

Faria has expressive eyes, natural screen presence, and a vibe that suits both fun and emotional roles. And more importantly, she is local, a Hyderabadi girl who speaks fluent Telugu. Isn’t that what the audience always says they want? If height is a real issue, what about Pooja Hegde, who has worked with Allu Arjun and Akhil despite being taller than both? Even in Bollywood, tall actresses like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Kriti Sanon, Anushka Sharma, Tabu, and Anushka Shetty have had flourishing careers.

In the past, actors like Sr. NTR, Shobhan Babu, and Amitabh Bachchan were tall and well-built, making strong on-screen pairs with tall actresses. Today’s actors also work on their physique and styling.

So why can’t the industry evolve when it comes to female height? It’s time to move beyond these outdated norms. Cinema is changing. Audience are ready for fresh, realistic, and diverse pairings.

Talent like Faria Abdullah shouldn’t be left behind just because of a number on a measuring tape. Maybe it’s not about her height. Maybe it’s about the industry’s low confidence in handling something different.

And if that’s the case, then maybe it’s not Faria who’s missing the chance, maybe it’s the industry that is.
