Items which triggered evacuation of police station revealed

The items brought to Worthing's police station are thought to be Second World War weaponry.

The items brought to a police station that sparked an evacuation are thought to be Second World War weaponry. Chatsworth House police station in Chatsworth Road, Worthing, was evacuated on Friday, April 11. Sussex Police reported that suspected unexploded Second World War munitions were handed in to the police station at around 2pm.

A cordon was set up around the building and the road was closed. Buildings inside the cordon were evacuated. The items are believed to be a mortar, a piece of artillery, and ammunition.
