A Japanese version of the 2017 Korean romantic comedy series “Suspicious Partner” will be coming to Disney+ on May 14. “Suspicious Partner” stars Fantastics from Exile Tribe member Yusei Yagi (“My Beautiful Man,” “Host Inherited”) as brilliant prosecutor Haruto Tateishi and former Hinatazaka46 member Kyoko Saito (“Mudtable,” “Sudden Marriage”) as Sakura Miyashita, a judicial trainee with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. Yusei Yagi and Kyoko Saito star in the Japanese remake of "Suspicious Partner" (Disney+, MBS) Ji Chang-wook and Nam Ji-hyun in the 2017 Korean rom-com "Suspicious Partner" (SBS) The series is directed by Yuka Yasukawa ("The Nighthawk’s First Love") and written by Japan Academy Prize winner Yosuke Maisike ("Haken Anime!").
In 2017, “Suspicious Partner” premiered in South Korea, starring Ji Chang-wook, Nam Ji-hyun, Choi Tae-joon and Kwon Nara. The Japanese version follows Haruto Tateishi, a cool-headed prosecutor whose life changes dramatically when he meets an eccentric woman who mistakenly accuses him of molesting someone on a bus. From the moment he meets her, everything seems to go wrong, but despite trying to cut ties, he can’t seem to get her out of his life.
A romantic comedy with elements of suspense, this new series promises something both new and familiar for fans of the original series. “Suspicious Partner” is the latest Japanese live-action series to debut on Disney+. Fans of Japanese dramas can also sign up to Disney+ to enjoy “Gannibal” seasons 1 and 2.
