Richard Keys hasn't been overly impressed with Liverpool this season, despite the Reds cruising to the Premier League title.

Liverpool have been imperious all season and could wrap up the Premier League title this week. Should Arsenal fall to defeat at Crystal Palace in midweek, the Reds will be crowned champions. If Arsenal pick up at least a point at Selhurst Park, Arne Slot's side will then have the opportunity to win the title in front of their own fans against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds really have been a class above this season and are deserved champions. However, one man who hasn't been overly impressed with them in 24/25 is BeIN Sports presenter, Richard Keys. If things all play out in Liverpool's favour, they may win one of the earliest titles in Premier League history.

Richard Keys Belittles Liverpool's Success in 24/25 Richard Keys has angrily dismissed Liverpool's achievements this season, insinuating they have been lucky because all the other top teams have gone backwards this season. Speaking on BeIN Sports, Keys started: "It's not a vintage season, not by any stretch of the imagination. Villa winning midweek does not prove what a good Premier League we have, it proves what a good Champions League it's been.

"There's been no challenge to Liverpool. No challenge, all season long. And secondly, signing Van Dijk and Mo Salah is not like signing two players, you've got them at the club already.

Both next year will be a year older. "There's been no challenge. Not from anywhere has there been a challenge, all season long.

Of course they deserve it, but it's not been a vintage season. Vintage is when you get a proper title race, nip and tuck, when City and Liverpool were toe to toe. "The top teams this season, all of them have gone backwards.

All of them. That's how it is. You can try and dress it up.

You can't say it's been a good season and it's been tough. It hasn't." Former Liverpool player Jason McAteer was working alongside Keys as a pundit and he hit back at his claims.

He said: “First of all, the history books will just say Liverpool have won the title this year – they won’t say how they’ve done it. “In the light of how Liverpool have performed in years gone by and the title teams that they’ve had, the Dalglish teams, the Paisley teams, the Fagan teams, you could argue this is not in the same bracket where it’s as easy on the eye. “But at the end of the day, if you want to dress it up like this: they’ve beaten the Spanish champions [Real Madrid], they’ve beaten the French champions [PSG], they’ve beaten the German champions [Leverkusen].

They’ve also beaten Manchester City twice. “If you want to look over Europe, we’ve got an English team in the Champions League semi-finals, we’ve got two English teams in the Europa League semi-finals and we’ve got an English team in the semi-final of the Conference League. What you’re saying is the Premier League is not that strong, yet we’ve got five teams in semi-finals of European competitions.

” Keys replied: "City are fifth. Poor, gone backwards. It's been an average Premier League season.

We've got three teams that went down in January. We've not had a title challenge since November. The whole league has been settled apart from three Champions League places.

"I'll repeat what I said, it has not been a vintage season, there's been no challenge. And I'll go further. Liverpool won't win anything next season.

They've won it well, but it's not been vintage. I wasn't passing judgement on Liverpool. But there's been no challenge.

" McAteer still wasn't backing down and retorted: “Why have we got to demean their achievements by saying ‘well it’s not been a great year’? That’s not Liverpool’s fault! Liverpool have been beaten twice. They can only do what’s put in front of them week in, week out and they’ve done it.”.
