com/uIjD999k3p “It’s about time one of us wins these things,” Logano told Regan Smith of FOX Sports . “You think about the amount of laps led by Team Penske and Ford in general, we just haven’t been able to close. To see a couple Fords on the front row duking it out — I wish one of them was me in a selfish way — but it’s good to see those guys run up there and click one off for Penske.
” Coming to the end of Stage 2, multiple drivers and teams were vying for the stage win. Logano lost out to Bubba Wallace. It all happened after Cindric had to check up while trying to push Logano.
The three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion lost it on the radio. “Way to go Austin, way to go, you dumb fu*k!” Logano said , via Jeff Gluck of The Athletic . “Way to fu*king go.
What a stupid sh*t. You just gave it to him. Gave a Toyota a stage win.
Nice job. Way to go. What a dumbass.
Put that in the book again.” Joey Logano scores top five at Talladega Both Logano and Cindric were fast at Talladega. Logano led 24 laps and looked like he would be in contention to win.
But in the closing laps of the race, Logano was unable to position himself for a chance to compete for the checkered flag. Logano came out on the wrong side of the final pit cycle and once the field got 2×2, he was stuck with nowhere to go. He finished fifth, his first top five of the season.
“It’s all about the cycle and once they got 2×2 there, you’re just kind of there watching it all happen in front of you, and you really don’t play much of a part,” Logano said. “Just hope that your lane clears enough to where you can possibly make a move, but just no lanes to make a move there. So, we just got beat on the cycle there.
Not even sure exactly how yet, I’d have to go back and look at it. “But overall, solid day for the Shell Pennzoil Ford. Almost a stage win and a top five.
Can’t be too frustrated with that, I guess.” This article first appeared on 5 GOATs and was syndicated with permission..
