PESHAWAR - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru visited the under-construction Central Food Testing Laboratory in Hayatabad, a flagship project of the KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority. Director General Wasif Saeed briefed the minister on the progress of civil works and installation of advanced testing equipment. The lab is equipped with modern devices like ELISA Reader, Milko Scan, PCR, HPLC, and other high-end technologies to support scientific food safety protocols across the province.
The facility will test a wide range of consumables including milk, meat, spices, beverages, and ghee, and will also be capable of detecting halal and non-halal ingredients. Twelve mobile testing labs are already operational across KP. Minister Toru said the lab is in its final stages and will soon be inaugurated by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.
He described it as the first-of-its-kind in Pakistan and a major step toward strengthening food regulation in KP. 198 drivers fined for letting students ride on vehicle rooftops He reiterated the provincial government’s resolve to provide safe, high-quality food and emphasized raising public awareness on food safety standards.
