Larry Collmus delivered another classic 2025 Kentucky Derby call for Sovereignty's win

Larry Collmus is just so good at his job . It's really hard to think of many announcers who deliver in big moments as consistently as the famed horse race broadcaster, but somehow he always presents his races with ease and aplomb. Saturday's 151st running of the Kentucky Derby was no different.

On an incredibly muddy track at Churchill Downs, Collmus was on his A+ game as Bob Baffert's Citizen Bull set an early pace off the rail that eventually ceded way to Sovereignty's dramatic nose-to-nose battle with Journalism down home stretch. As Sovereignty began to pull away with only a few lengths left, Collmus dropped the perfect line for the new Kentucky Derby champion. Sovereignty rules.
