IRELAND AM star Alan Hughes told Muireann O’Connell to “leave him alone” on air. The Virgin Media stars co-hosted yesterday’s show alongside Siomha Ni Ruairc and were joined by wine expert Michelle Lawlor from The Nude Wine Company to give her tipsy tips for the Easter weekend. The Dublin native said: “Muireann, you’ll love this. I was having a glass of Sauvignon, like we do on an odd occasion. “Do you know what I had with it, a packet of cheese and onion crisps.
Delicious. It’s perfect pairing with a glass of wine.”Muireann looked quite unimpressed with the revelation and pointed out: “Everyone at home is going, ‘Has Alan only discovered you eat Tayto with wine?’.
”Alan replied: “I know, but I never did before.”The Limerick native asked: “What do you be doing?”Alan said laughing: “I was just drinking the wine. I know you have crisp nibbles when you’re having a glass of wine.
But to sit down and open a packet with it.”He then shouted out: “Leave me alone!”At the end of the show, the three presenters teased Saturday’s show lineup with Nikki Sanderson on.Alan said: “Maxine’s leaving Hollyoaks!” Muireann took another dig at Alan as she said sarcastically: “My god, it’s as shocking as discovering crisps and wine.
” The hit morning show has been filled with telly laughs this week and Muireann was even left gobsmacked by one of Alan’s remarks. On Wednesday, the presenters were speaking about a research that said “how you save your partner’s name in your phone can say a lot about your relationship”.Muireann explained: “And it says, because the name on our phone, it’s a visual symbol of our partner and a reminder of our relationship with them.
MUIR LAUGHS“Using personal jokes or nicknames can reflect a deeper or more intimate connection.”Siomha revealed that she has her husband Cathal Pendred saved as his name with a “love heart emojis and a few sparkles” beside it.Muireann, who’s notorious for keeping her love life private, admitted that she had one of her past boyfriend’s number saved in her phone as “blowfish”.
The studio went completely silent before Muireann explained the reason was because he had “chubby cheeks”.Alan sighed from relief and made a sexual innuendo as he said bluntly: “Okay, that could have gone somewhere else.”Muireann looked completely shocked as she put her hand over her mouth and shouted out: “No!”.
