Letter: DOGE really improving efficiency?

I wanted to respond to the e-mail from Rep. Morgan Griffith praising Elon Musk and DOGE. I am fully in support of the government cutting spending and improving efficiency.

My question is, how does firing thousands of government workers, then a month later rehiring them with back pay, accomplish either? Jonathan Bier, Ferrum.
