Dr. Marilyn Johnson-Farr has been one of the most influential people in my life and is such a resource to all who come in contact with her. Dr.
Johnson-Farr is responsible for the foundation I have in my post-secondary educational journey. As a doctoral candidate/student almost 10 years ago at Doane University, I established a relationship with Dr. Johnson-Farr that has extended well beyond the classroom.
As I was progressing through the Doane University doctoral program and in reality doubting if I had what it took to finish the program, it was Dr. Johnson-Farr who served as my north star. Dr.
Johnson-Farr's ability to keep me inspired while also having critical conversations with me about the quality and integrity of my submitted work was just what I needed to persist in the program. Dr. Johnson-Farr not only provided me with that guidance, but as a person of color in higher education, gave me a sense of belonging in a space where I was the minority.

I truly believe that Dr. Marilyn Johnson-Farr is a value-add to any space she occupies. As a member of the Lincoln Board of Education, Dr.
Johnson-Farr's influence will continue to set the foundation for students, parents and families for the rest of their lives. Dr. Johnson-Farr will help improve the areas of providing high-quality education for all students, addressing the teacher shortage and preparing students for success after school.
