On Monday, President Trump openly defied the Supreme Court. An innocent Maryland father, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, was illegally sent to a concentration camp in El Salvador, forever, without charge or trial. The Court ordered Trump to “‘facilitate’ Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador.” The President refuses our highest Court’s order to correct it.

If we don’t impeach Trump now, we may not get another chance Last week, I contacted Representative Joe Neguse’s office on behalf of Citizens’ Impeachment to ask if he supports impeaching President Donald Trump. Despite multiple emails and phone calls, I haven’t heard back. I’m disappointed because I believe the Assistant Democratic Leader in the House should be leading from the front on this issue.

” The President refuses our highest Court’s order to correct it. The risk to our country could not be more clear. What many thought was hyperbole has become reality: President Trump has brought us into authoritarianism.

He and his cabinet are lawless, unaccountable to our justice system, and have committed a multitude of crimes. The only remedy to this danger is to remove him from office. If we don’t impeach him now, we may not have the opportunity again.

His threats to remain in office at the end of his term are credible. This is not a risk that we, the American people, are willing to take. I am encouraging Representative Neguse to publicly commit to carrying out his most sacred democratic role: removing tyrants from office.

I hope that he will confirm his support soon on this critical issue. David Pomeroy, Louisville.
