A 38-year-old man who arranged to trade his Charizard Pokemon card was beaten and robbed of the $5K collectible. A holographic Charizard Pokemon card was every kid’s dream back in 1999 and even now, it remains a hot commodity. While not quite a PSA 10 shadowless first edition that’s sold for $420,000 , a man in Australia tried his luck at selling his PSA 9 Charizard, but was met with a nasty surprise instead.
According to ABC , the man arranged to meet at a parking lot at 10:45 PM on March 28 to trade the card when he was assaulted. The New South Wales Police Force tweeted about the incident on X with a series of Pokemon references as well as a grainy, blurry image of a car that was spotted leaving the scene.

” It’s not clear who took the photo of the car, but it’s all police have to go off at the moment. This isn’t the first time an individual seller has been attacked while trying to trade cards. Back in 2022, a group of Pokemon card thieves in France assaulted a man at gunpoint and took off with his expensive collection worth a whopping $15,000.
