Man dies from head injury in fight over 6.5K

Chennai: A six-member gang was arrested ten days after attacking a man in Ambattur over a financial dispute. The 47-year-old victim died after being thrown to the ground by his business partner and accomplices during an argument on April 15. Although he managed to get up and return home, he later lost consciousness and was declared dead at a hospital the following day.

The deceased, Prem Kumar, was involved in a mattress retail business with his partner, Kadhar Bhai. Police said an argument erupted between the two over a 6,500 business transaction. During the dispute, Kadhar, along with his friends, pushed Prem to the ground, said police.

His wife took him to a hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. His body was sent for postmortem, and initial findings indicated a severe head injury.

A detailed postmortem report received on Saturday confirmed that the cause of death was due to being pushed to the ground during the scuffle. Police filed a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder and arrested Kadhar along with his friends — Suman, Sudhakar, Palani Kumar, Paramasivan, and Murugesan. All six have been remanded in judicial custody.
