A 51-year-old man is in hospital after an armed invasion, armed assault and a car crash in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville early Wednesday morning.Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 2:20 a.m.
about suspects trying to force their way into an apartment on Drouart Street near Lavigerie Street.“When police arrived on the scene, they located the victim,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a SPVM spokesperson. The 51-year-old was conscious and was injured to the upper body with a sharp object.
He was then transported to hospital, where his life is not considered to be in danger.According to initial information, after the suspects tried to force their way into an apartment, the victim came to the front door and tried to prevent the suspects from entering.“At which point the suspects would have wounded the victim with a sharp object,” said Chèvrefils.

As other officers were heading to the scene, they happened upon a scene of a collision between two cars a few streets away — at the intersection of Drouart and Charles Gill Street.
“The driver and the passenger of the offending vehicle were travelling at high speed and would have failed to make the mandatory stop,” said Chèvrefils. “Following the collision they all fled on foot.”On of them, an 18-year-old man, was located and arrested nearby — he was transported to the investigation centre where he will be met by investigators in the coming hours.
The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision, a 69-year-old man, was not injured.A security perimeter has been established to allow investigators to analyze the scene.An investigation is ongoing.
