He was wanted in connection with a Feb 16 burglary of a leading textile showroom in T Nagar. Police said Shyam Sundar and his associate entered the shop through the AC vents on the roof wearing masks, and made off with 9 lakh in cash.

Police then traced the suspect to Mathura with the help of his relatives and Aadhaar card details.

Finally, after a month and a half of investigation, Shyam Sundar, 28, was picked up. He told police that he and his accomplice Rahul Singh would carefully plan heists using Google Maps to locate high-traffic textile shops selling valuable goods. They would enter through the roof, often at night, break through the false ceiling, and steal money and jewellery.

This signature modus operandi was noticed in multiple locations across India, police said. Police were not able to recover much of the stolen cash from Shyam. Mambalam police team had reviewed over 100 CCTV footage clips, before they got a breakthrough and identified the culprits.
